Korean Inspired Philly Cheese Steak

sliced beef chuck or ribeye

vidalia onion

provolone or american cheese

hawaiian bread or your choice of bread loaf

3 Tbs soy sauce

2 Tbs sesame oil

2 Tbs gochujang

2 Tsp brown sugar


  1. Rough chop your onions so that the onions are cut in long strands.

  2. Oil your pan and pre-heat until ready to sear.

  3. While your pan is heating up, mix all the sauce ingredients together. Add more sesame oil or honey to taste. You're aiming for a tangy-sweetness with tiny kick from the Gochujang.

  4. Once the pan is hot, cook your onions until lightly brown.

  5. In the same pan, with your onions still browning, add the slices of beef. Cook until your sliced beef is brown and caramelized.

  6. Fold in your cheese on top and add lid to the pan so that the cheese melts throughout the slices of beef and onions.

  7. After 30-60 seconds bring your bread on top and scoop the meat using both the bread and your spatula to make your cheese steak.

  8. Enjoy!
